In simple terms, this server.py service is a small program that talks to PWmat's servers to verify and load your software license. Once it's installed and running, the PWstudio container can obtain a valid authorization and be used normally.

Open the link above in a browser, enter the username/password, and download the PWmatLICENSE.tgz archive to your computer. Then use MobaXterm (or a similar tool — see the MobaXterm beginner tutorial) to upload it to your Linux server (we recommend uploading it to your home directory).

Once uploaded, run the following commands on the server's terminal in order (we recommend copying and pasting the whole block, since the second cd command depends on the folder extracted by the first command):

cat pwmat_hdwkey ;echo

The first command extracts the archive;
the second enters the extracted folder;
the third runs a script that reads this server's hardware information and generates a key string (called pwmat_hdwkey) used to request a license;
the fourth prints that key text directly to the screen.

Request a PWstudio license file

Paste the pwmat_hdwkey value you just generated into the corresponding field on the license request form (just copy and paste the whole string the terminal printed out)

The license files, pwmat.lic and pwmat.sig, will be emailed to you (please check your inbox after submitting the request, including your spam folder)

Place the pwmat.lic and pwmat.sig files you received into the PWmatLICENSE folder you just extracted (i.e. download the two email attachments, then use MobaXterm to upload them into that same folder on the server)

Once you have the license files in place, start the service:

./script.sh start

This step normally doesn't produce any error. Afterward, you can confirm it actually started correctly with the command below:

Check whether the service started successfully by running:

./script.sh status

If the status shows something like “running” or “active,” the service started successfully.

Once the service is running correctly, go back to the previous page and continue with the installation.
