PWstudio CPU version - Rocky Linux 8.10 installation guide
Applies to: Rocky Linux 8.10
Includes: Docker
Before you start, we strongly recommend reading Read this before installing PWstudio first. If you don't yet know how to use a tool to log in to a server or upload/download files, read the MobaXterm beginner tutorial first. The CPU version doesn't need a GPU driver — you only need to install Docker.
1. System setup
1.1 Disable the firewall
systemctl stop firewalld systemctl disable firewalld
The first command stops the firewall immediately, the second prevents it from starting automatically at boot. Normally there's no visible output — as long as there's no error in red, it succeeded.
2. Install Docker
The Docker installation steps are exactly the same for the CPU and GPU versions, so just jump straight to the corresponding section of the GPU installation guide — no need to read it twice.
Click the link to jump to the Install Docker section: Go to "Install Docker" and follow the guide starting from “3. Install Docker” through to the end of “3.5 (Optional) Allow a non-root user to run Docker” (you don't need to continue on to “4. Install nvidia-container-toolkit” — that's only needed for the GPU version). Then come back here and continue with step 3 below.
3. Install the PWstudio CPU version
Once Docker is installed, click the link to continue installing PWstudio itself, starting from Install the server.py service on the host machine: Go to "Install the server.py service on the host machine", and follow the guide through to the end.
